Hello and welcome! We’re so glad you’ve found your way to our little corner of the internet.

We are Writer on the Run: Canadian Word Warriors—two Canadian authors passionate about storytelling, connecting with readers, and writing stories that matter. Whether you’re new to our work or have been following our journey for a while, this blog is for you.
Each month, we’ll share something new on this blog—insights into our writing lives, book spotlights, story inspiration, and reflections on being independent Canadian authors in today’s world. But before we dive in, let’s introduce ourselves!
Meet Mary M. Cushnie-Mansour – The Original Writer on the Run
Hi, I’m Mary—a longtime writer of fiction, biographies, and poetry. You’ll often find me weaving rich stories from the past, bringing Canadian settings and unforgettable characters to life. My books explore timeless themes of love, resilience, identity, and transformation.
When I’m not writing, you’ll likely find me reading, walking in nature, connecting with my community, or working on my screenwriting course. Writing has always been my way of capturing imagination and emotion—and sharing it with readers like you is my greatest joy.
You can browse my books historical novels here or follow me on Facebook and Instagram.
Meet Regina Jetleb – Writing Stories with Heart and Purpose
Hi, I’m Regina—a writer of young adult and children’s fiction that tackles real-life challenges with compassion and hope. My stories often explore tough topics like foster care, mental health, adoption, and bullying, all from a Canadian perspective.
I believe young readers deserve books that reflect both the struggles and the strength of growing up. My goal is always to leave them feeling seen, heard, and empowered. You can explore my books here.
Why We Call Ourselves the Canadian Word Warriors
Writing is our art, but it’s also our fight—for truth, for voice, for connection. As Canadian Word Warriors, we champion the stories that don’t always get told. We write with heart and courage—and we invite you to read with the same spirit.
This shared identity is why we’ve joined forces under the Writer on the Run brand—to support each other’s work and build a bigger platform to connect with readers like you.

Your Canadian Word Warriors

Regina and I would love to chat with you. Please take a moment and tell us how much you love to read, and what your favourite genres are. Summer is a time to take a few moments under a shade tree or by a campfire to read a book.
