Today is a day of memories – a day when my dear sister-in-law passed away – 17 years seems like a breath ago – yet the emptiness of her leaving us is still here…

The following is the prayer that was read by her bedside on this day, 17 years ago…

Hands reaching to Cross

Janet’s Prayer

Gentle Jesus, we ask you to take our loved one home to your bosom.

Give her the peace she so deserves, and let her soar wit the angels,

Never again to know the pain and suffering

That she has gone through these past months.

Gentle Jesus, be with all of Jan’s loved ones that she is leaving behind.

Help them through this time of sorrow and fill their hearts with

The knowledge that the memories of her are like cherished treasures

Fixed forever in their hearts and minds.

Help them, Gentle Jesus, each step of every day

Until the moment when they all shall meet again,

As you have so promised us

In Jesus Name…
