As a child I used to play in the woods, finding a sense of peace there that I could not find in the open spaces. As an adult, I enjoy walking or biking through the surrounding forests, many of which I have given names because of the serenity they bestow upon me. As an adult, I wrote a poem – My Cathedral – which I shall share here with you..have a wonderful day, dear FB family – your Writer on the Run moving on…

MY CATHEDRAL

 I visited my cathedral  today

GOD

reached  down and touched my head

with a sunbeam

a light breeze fluttered through the trees

drying the tears upon my cheeks

I basked in

HIS

loving embrace

I lay down upon the forest floor

staring up at the ceiling of my cathedral

so blue

dotted with white fluffiness

so inviting

so peaceful

a choir of birds began their song

squirrels and chipmunks completed the melody

a woodpecker beat the drum

all was good

so beautiful

GOD’S choir

unrehearsed

my soul

refreshed

healed

at peace

in those few moments spent

in my cathedral

I wonder

if I had been in your cathedral today

would GOD have been able to reach me or

would HE have pricked HIS finger

on the steeple high

been forced to find

an open door

an open window

come join me in

my cathedral

GOD

is there
