Fourteen-year-old Ben Chapman loves video games. His deepest desire is to make a career in video gaming. However, Ben’s parents think video games are nothing more than a hobby, and Ben hasn’t been able to convince them otherwise.
When a video game tournament opportunity presents itself, Ben tries to figure out a way to enter it without telling his parents. He wants the chance to win the $5000 prize!

Things become complicated for Ben when his parents insist he take a summer landscaping job with his uncle. To top that off, there is the interference of a bully at the arcade––someone Ben used to be friends with. Ben’s summer becomes a precarious house of lies. He’s not being truthful to his family or best friend, Akito.

Will Ben be able to juggle his dream without getting hurt? Will he be able to co-operate with the three strangers he’s been partnered with in the competition? Will Ben be able to hide his secret from his parents? Will he repair the damage he’s done to his best friend?

Or will Ben’s house of cards come crashing down when his secret love for gaming is exposed?
