I gave “A Time for Mercy” by John Grisham five stars. It held me captivated with each chapter and I couldn’t wait to read how it would end. I don’t think it has yet because, not to give too much away, there is definitely more to the story!
I perused through several testimonials for this book-mostly 4 and 5 star ratings-and noticed a few readers were giving it 1 and 2 stars. I did find a couple of the comments to have some merit, but overall, this book does deserve the 5 stars I have given it.

I remember, back in high school, I wrote three poems about crimes that were committed by essentially what I described as a victim … the poems started out with “Now I, the authoress, ask you the jury, would you convict… Because of the memory of these poems in the back of my mind, I kept turning the pages to see if Jake would get Drew off.

But we all know that the law is not black and white and Grisham portrays this well, digging for those grey areas that will justify what his client did. Are those grey areas enough to free this 16 year old boy? Pick up the book and enjoy the read. I did, finishing the 628 pages in three days.
