“The Secret Letter” by Debbie Rix gets four stars from me. I would have given it five but found several errors throughout the novel – nothing major, but enough to occasionally stop me up from reading.

Having said that, though, the story was wonderfully woven together as it told the tale of two girls from extremely different worlds during WWII. Imogden lived in England; Magda in Germany. Both girls ended up fighting on the same side, Magda appalled at what her government was doing.

The story is a lovely combination of fact and fiction and wasn’t all roses because we know war is not pretty. The ending was more of an epilogue, but it tied the ties of the characters up quite nicely. I highly recommend this read for those who love historical fiction.
