I couldn’t put “The Last Mile” by David Baldacci down. It grabbed me right from the first page! Five Stars.
Melvin Mars, a former college football star that had a lot of promise, only has a few hours to live; he’s on death row for having murdered his parents. “I didn’t do it,” he claimed, but don’t they all. Every reprieve has been exhausted; his last meal is on its way. But then a miracle happens, another man confesses to the crime.
Enter Amos Decker, who joins an FBI task force, and after reading Melvin’s case file, he wants to get to the bottom of the matter and find out exactly what happened on that night so long ago! He believes Melvin is innocent, but proving that gets complicated! There is someone else out there that doesn’t seem to want certain secrets to be revealed.
I’m not going to give away anything more because this book is a must-read for any lover of a good mystery with lots of twists and turns. So, pull up a cozy chair, pour yourself a drink and drift away into David Baldacci’s “The Last Mile.” You won’t regret it!
